  • Estimation of Feasibility and Goal Setting

  • Concept development

In creative discussions and a moderated brainstorming new ideas are collected and evaluated. Research on the selected proposals and simple feasibility tests are performed. The most promising concept is then shaped and presented to the customer for evaluation.   • Risk Management. Starting new technology development often relates to a risk of acquiring new human resources and tools, which might become less useful with a change in strategic decisions about the new technology. Subcontracting the development to us you are totally flexible to decide how many steps to go and when either stop the development or continue with your internal resources further.

A right chose of a membrane, spacer, sealant, or housing material is essential for the efficient and long-term functioning of the membrane device and it is an important part of new development.

Also analysis of the membranes failed in the field could help understanding the failure.

Measuring characteristic parameters before and after accelerated ageing test helps estimating the shelf-life, as well as suitability of the material for and long-term stability in a specific application.

  • Prototype design and manufacturing

The development of the prototype for the selected concept runs through the consequent steps:

  • 3D-Model is created on the computer and is improved in several iterations considering selected manufacturing technique, while the evaluation of each version is assisted by flow simulation and mechanical stress analysis.

  • Flow Simulation using commercial Computational Fluid Dynamic software is done for the flow channels where homogeneous fluid distribution and reduced pressure drop is important for the process. If the mechanical stability of certain parts is doubted the strength analysis is additionally performed.

  • Part Manufacturing for and assembling of prototypes using appropriate techniques, like machining, 3D-printing, vacuum casting, laser cutting, structural adhesion, etc., is the hands-on work we adore. Existing membranes could be used directly or after modifications, like coating or chemical treatment. Prototypes of new membranes can be produced by casting from the solution or by extrusion. From an integrated spacer over an assembled membrane module to a complete test-bench you’ll get manufactured what you desire.

  • Test-Bench and Experimental Investigation Service

Do you like to test the prototype in our facilities or need a test-bench for your internal use? Each option is possible! Test-benches are available for inhouse investigation of following processes: electrodialysis, electrodialysis with bipolar membranes, electrolysis, electrodeionization, reverse osmosis, ion-exchange, H2-PEMFC. For the technology and product development we can perform target oriented experimental studies with the prototype and suggest operating conditions and possible improvements in the test report.

We are experienced in development of new test equipment and protocols, thus set-ups for specific purposes can be built according to user requirement specifications. Test-benches are pre-tested in the lab before delivery, so you can be sure to get plug-and-play equipment with the competent support.
