ED, ED-BM and EDI
SINGLE UNITS AND STACKS
Easy assembling with different types of membranes and spacers. Among four major module types for desalination and for electrodialysis with bipolar membranes (ED-BM), different other sizes are available.

ED single units
Active area, cm²: 5; 10; 25; 50
One cell pair with homogeneous flow distribution, for measuring limiting current density, verification of membrane stability, etc. Very practical for comparing different membranes and spacers.

ED-BM
Active area: 100 cm²
In addition to the cathode and anode rinsing, the stack has four fluid streams, which makes it suitable for both ED and ED-BM

ED Stack MINI
Active area: 58 cm²
145 mm long and 40 mm wide channel with very good flow distribution. Up to 20 cell pairs for process development, parameter investigation, scale-up studies and batch desalination.

EDI
Active area: 300 cm²
Electrodeionization stack with separated beds of cation– and anion-exchange resin to produce ultrapure water from RO-permeate at 20 to 50 L/h per unit

Current-voltage curves, current efficiency, electro-osmotic water transfer, mass transfer coefficient and other parameters can be determined and used to calculate key process parameters, like product-specific energy consumption.
Electrodialysis (ED) lab modules consist of membranes, spacers, end-plates and clamping.
The cathode and anode compartments have a separate inlet and outlet. ED-modules have two fluid streams: diluate and concentrate. Modules with four streams are suitable for ED-BM.
The cells can be easily assembled and disassembled using variety of available membranes and spacers.
Options available for ED single cells and stacks:
• polarity reversal
• integrated temperature sensor
• sensing electrical potential difference between selected compartments
• compatibility to hot-water (80°C) sanitization
• ion-conductive spacer
• dedicated test-bench
Spare parts and additional components:
• integrated spacers in vari-etyofthickness
• membranes of different properties
• Electrodes, e.g. titanium coated with platinum or mixed metal oxide

Spacers are optimized for high turbulence promotion at low pressure drop.
